Why use a camera for the chimney?

A camera lets us see the inside of the flue and liner — areas you simply cannot evaluate from the firebox or the roof. On older Chicago homes with masonry chimneys, that view often catches cracked liners and deterioration before they become a safety issue.

Is a chimney inspection part of a standard home inspection?

A standard inspection covers what is visible. A camera chimney inspection goes further, and we recommend it for any home with a masonry chimney or a wood-burning fireplace.
